Rally X (32k Ver.?)

0.35b8 [Yasuhiro Ogawa]

0.06 [Nicola Salmoria]

Samples required

- rallyx and all clones/variations Right at the beginning of the game if you go immediately down thereby crashing into the competitor's car, you won't die. You drive right through it. This is not a bug, but a short period of invincibility, same thing happens on the real machine. Bugfinder

- In every challenging stage, get all flags but two: L and any other one. Then wait for fuel run out (the red cars start after you), right after that, take the L. The red cars stop and you can run forever in the maze until you get the last flag. The same thing happens on the real machine. Bugfinder

- Smoke disappear when off-screen: The problem is that in order to make the smoke persistant they'd need a copy of the entire tilemap for the entire level in RAM (normally the map data and characters are in ROM on that hardware) and Rally-X simply doesn't have enough RAM to do it. R. Belmont

- Some of rallyx.c games (commsega, locomotn, tactcian): They exhibit a problem with screen area. In the case of commsega and locomotn, it appears the bottom of the screen is not seen (I believe 32 lines). tactcian appears to have the standard 224w x 288h resolution, but it appears it is offset incorrectly (the top area of screen with scores appears on the bottom). rallyx0109u2gre Tafoid

- 0.85u1: Inigo Luja added conditional dipswitches in Rally X (the bonus score depends on the number of lives).

- 0.78u1: Added proms ($120, $140 - vertical sync (not used)).

- 1st January 2003: Stefan Jokisch added PROMs to Rally X.

- 0.37b12: Changed VSync to 60.606060Hz.

- 0.36b15: Added prom ($100 - sound1 timing).

- 21st October 1999: Zsolt Vasvari fixed Rally X sprites and added coin cointer / lockout.

- 10th July 1999: Nicola made a major improvement to Bosconian, Commando (Sega), Rally-X and the rest, adding a missing character PROM.

- 0.35b8: Yasuhiro Ogawa added Rally X (Namco). Rename (rallyx) to (rallyxm).

- 0.35b1: Larry Bank added a kludge to avoid leftover sprites in Rally-X.

- 0.31: Gary Walton and Simon Walls accurated the colors in Rally X.

- 0.29: Colors are still wrong in Rally X until we find the color PROMs. Sound should finally be correct, both in Rally X and New Rally X. Sean Gugler added in some games (e.g. Pacman, Galaxian, Rally X) the NumLock and CapsLock leds, they emulate the 1 player/2 players start lamps. Valerio Verrando added hiscore save in Rally X.

- 0.28: Mirko Buffoni added explosions to Rally X, using a sample.

- 0.26a: Mirko Buffoni worked with the wrong source, now everything is back to normality in RallyX.

- 0.22: Nicola added cars in radar update of RallyX.

- 0.19: Added partial sound support to RallyX (no explosions yet). Thankx to Ron Fries.

- 0.15: Brad Oliver fixed a illegal memory accesses bug in games using 224x288 and 288x224 modes (Pengo, Pac Man, Rally X).

- 0.12: Valerio Verrando provided 288x224 video modes to be used with Rally X. Issues: Sprites are not turned off appropriately. Cars are not displayed on the radar screen. Nicola don't know if I reproduced the layout of the screen coreectly.

- 0.06: Nicola Salmoria added Rally X (Namco 1980) (graphic glitches, wrong colors, no sound, slowdowns, small screen).
