Mortal Kombat II (rev L3.1)

0.37b9 [Mike Greve]

0.34b7 [Alex Pasadyn, Zsolt Vasvari, Kurt Mahan]

- If you let attract mode run through 3 complete times. there will be no sound on the 4th and after. Many games do not play attract mode sound after the 1st few cycles, try hitting a button like start or up, the sound comes back. TheDarkAbyss

- In the battle plan screen, the bottom 1/16th of the furthest background layer is missing (see snapshot). I was bored at work today, so I started messing with our MK2 machine. I cranked up the contrast and brightness until things were starting to smear, and then checked the fighter ladder screen. MAME is indeed accurate. Reznor007

- mk2 and clones: When you insert a coin a sound is played. In Mortal Kombat 2, the sound is a voice that says EXCELLENT, but when you insert a coin during the attract mode the sound doesn't play. It only fails when you insert a coin during the attract mode, but it works when a coin is inserted when you are at the character select screen or playing. OK, tested on the real PCB. This is correct behaviour. If you insert during attract mode, there is no sound, but if you insert during play/character select, there is a sound. Reznor007

Possible Bugs:

- mk2: Occasionally when watching attract mode, the music speeds up and plays at a very fast tempo. This bug is volatile and hard to reproduce though. Choose Melina, beat your first opponent. Then go on to fight your next opponent; lose and don't continue, then watch attract mode. mk2137b5gre Jeff B

- The vertical resolution of these games - at least in the service mode - may be wrong. Enter service mode and enter the various menus mk, mk2, mk3: game adjustments/standard pricing umk3: main menu. I guess these sizes were chosen because otherwise garbage would be displayed in-game? mk237b5gre IF
