Arabian

Arabian (c) 1983 Sun Electronics.

A traditional platform game in which the player controls a young Arabian Prince who must rescue his Princess from the castle tower, where she is being held prisoner. The Prince's progress is hampered by evil genies in brass jugs throwing deadly smokeballs. Swooping Rocs and purple ghostly creatures (called Oscars) will also try to stop the hero in his quest. Sometimes, Rocs and Oscars will come together to form Super Rocs or Super Oscars who will be more dangerous, but these enemies are also worth a greater amount of points.

The Prince scores points for kicking Oscars and Rocs, as well as for picking up lettered jugs in the right order to spell the word A-R-A-B-I-A-N. When The Prince picks up the jugs, he must only pick one up while a Genie is still inside or when a Genie is beginning to materialize. The Prince must NOT pick up a jug while a Genie is above it and fully-materialized, or else the Prince will be killed. The Prince loses a life when he gets hit by a smokeball thrown by a Genie, falls off either a ledge, flying carpet or vine, or gets caught (touched) by a Genie, Oscar or Roc.

Bug : Pixels are missing from the top of the '5'. This is a fault common to the code of the original ROMs on all of the boards (both Sun and Atari).

- SCORING -

Kicking a monster off screen : 100 points.

Killing 2 monsters with one kick : 600 points.

Kicking a mutant blob : 2,000 points.

Collecting a pot : 500 points.

Spelling ARABIAN : 4,000 points bonus.

- TIPS AND TRICKS -

* Try to kick off the monsters in pairs for more points. They don't have to be close together: one hitting another knocks the other off screen.

* Don't move through a crawlway when there is a blob regenerating on the other side. You move much slower when crawling, can't kick and chances are you won't make it through in time.

* You can kick monsters slightly above and in front of you if you kick when jumping.

* If you jump onto a ladder you land on it half way up and can then continue climbing, thereby getting you up quicker.

* You can't jump when there are vines above you as you cling to them.
